Fio Corporation is a nanotechnology research and development team conjoined with marketing and sales as a single commercializing entity. Partnered with the University of Toronto and the University Health Network, they are developing a new bio-scanning device.
In the restored historic complex called the Queen-Richmond Centre East, Fio Corporation has made a home for their research facility. A third of the space has been designated for the laboratories. The rest of the area on the fifth floor is designed to be highly collaborative and visually connected office space with inherently flexible work and meeting areas, a café and an outdoor terrace.
The masonry walls are exposed, the floors are refinished maple stripped flooring. There are very few enclosed offices or full-height partitions, allowing natural daylight to flood the space and providing a sense of comfort and generosity to the space.
